Job description

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to manage all production engineering, design documentation, and technical process management activities. This leader will ensure the timely delivery of accurate production drawings, specifications, submittal packages, and design documentation in compliance with customer requirements and company standards.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in engineering management, technical project management, production drawing coordination, and external professional engineer management. This is a process-discipline and coordination role with strong technical credibility, commercial awareness, and accountability for schedule adherence, design quality, and customer satisfaction.

Location/Schedule: Macon, GA / 1st shift
Requirements
What You'll Do:
  • Direct all production engineering activities including the creation, review, approval, and release of production drawings, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Establish and enforce design standards, drawing conventions, naming protocols, and documentation requirements across all projects and product lines.
  • Develop and maintain engineering schedules for all active projects; align engineering timelines with production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Manage relationships with external professional engineers and engineering consulting firms engaged for specialized design work, analysis, or certification.
  • Review external engineering deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all designs and engineering deliverables meet applicable regulatory standards, industry codes, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead the creation and management of customer submittal packages, including design specifications, material selections, performance data, test results, and certifications.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations on design-for-manufacturability assessments and manufacturing constraints.
  • Support the Sales Manager by providing technical input on customer inquiries, design feasibility assessments, and project proposals.
  • Provide regular engineering status reports to the Vice President of Operations including project status, schedule updates, design issues, and external engineering progress.

Who You Are:
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering management, technical project management, or production engineering leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years of responsibility for design documentation, production drawing management, or engineering process control
  • Proven experience managing engineering schedules, coordinating multiple concurrent technical projects, and delivering designs on schedule
  • Demonstrated experience managing professional engineers or external engineering consultants; vendor and consultant management background
  • Hands-on experience with design standards, specifications, production drawings, technical documentation, and design review processes
  • Experience translating customer specifications and requirements into technical designs and manufacturing instructions
  • Background managing design projects for customers with rigorous quality, compliance, or regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, or equivalent); familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) or document control systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related technical engineering discipline
