Job Description
The Mill Room Helper assists the Mill room Attendant in the Porcelain Department, reporting to Boiler.
This position will serve our Water Heating Division, located in Montgomery, AL.
Responsibilities
  • Must receive and store raw materials.
  • Must fill pressure tanks from storage vessels.
  • Set-up and administer Erwin slump test for proper viscosity, and if necessary, make correction by adding necessary chemicals or additives.
  • Deliver and remove pressure tanks to and from work area as needed using a mechanical walk along device.
  • Replace screens and parts in pots, and any other equipment as directed.
  • Clean general mill room as required.
  • Transport enamel from storage tank fill to 60-gallon spray pot.
  • Will be responsible for cleaning and inspection of screens for damage.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
  • Observe all departmental safety requirements.
  • Inspect units or parts for defects and workmanship.
  • Work from written or verbal orders.
  • Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.
  • Must be able to apply chemicals to slump to increase or decrease thickness.
  • Must be able to perform and document quality checks i.e. slump test
  • Must be able to understand and read a measuring cup.
  • Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on pressure vessels, lift assists etc.
  • Must be able to connect large hoses to storage tanks and provide a mixture of virgin and reclaim to pressure vessels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Candidate must have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Candidate must have working in a manufacturing environment/warehousing setting for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Candidate must have held their current job for a minimum of 6 months prior to bidding on this role (excluding realignment).
  • Candidate must not currently be on any probationary period/performance improvement plan or have had a Final Written Warning or higher for 1 year.
  • Candidate must be able to perform Continuous lifting of 5-25 lbs; Frequent lifting of 25-60 lbs; Occasional lifting of 60+ lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and/or lift repetitively during shift.
  • Candidate must be able to lift material using a shovel.
  • Candidate must be able to stand, walk and/or lift repetitively during shift.
  • Candidate must be able to lift in unsupported positions as well as bend, twist/turn, reach, push/pull.
  • Candidate must be able to use measurement devices including water meters, scales and measuring cups.
  • Candidate may be exposed to high noise levels, heat, dust and airborne particles.
  • Candidate will be required to wear all applicable Personal Protective Equipment appropriate for the work area.
  • Candidate must promote the Rheem Values of Integrity, Teamwork and Business Ethics.
  • Candidate must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Candidate must have measurement reading skills.
  • Candidate must be able to perform consistently within the physical requirements of the role.
  • Candidate must possess good communications skills.
  • Prior press experience preferred.
