Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Service Mechanic with experience in power equipment and small engine repair to join our Service Division. The primary responsibility of this role is to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of customer-owned equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: landscaping equipment, snow removal equipment, hydraulic systems, trailers, diesel engines, small farm equipment, tractors, light trucks, and other outdoor power tools and machinery.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Accurately diagnose and repair small engines, gas-powered, and diesel-powered equipment on a daily basis.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on a range of power equipment including lawn mowers, snowblowers, chainsaws, trimmers, generators, and compact utility equipment.
  • Work closely with the Service Writer and Parts Department to ensure accurate parts ordering, service timelines, and detailed repair estimates.
  • Recommend preventative maintenance and service plans to customers.
  • Assemble, inspect, and prep new equipment for delivery.
  • Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safe working conditions.
  • Uphold a positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the mechanic team.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of small engine repair, 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, and power equipment systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in landscaping equipment, snow/ice removal equipment is a plus.
  • Skilled in trailer repair, light truck repair, tractor service, and snowplow systems.
  • Comfortable using a variety of shop tools, diagnostic software, and repair manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple work orders efficiently.
  • Familiarity with outdoor power equipment brands such as Toro, Honda, Husqvarna, or similar is a bonus.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair knowledge.

Credentials and Experience:

  • Prior diesel engine experience is PREFERRED โ€“ additional training can be provided in the areas related to tractors and UTVโ€™s/RTVโ€™s.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in small engine repair or related field.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus โ€“ certification provided.

Physical Demands

  • Employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing between 40-50lbs.
  • Required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb to perform work.
  • May be required to stand, walk and use hands-fingers for long periods of time.
  • May be required to look at the computer screen for long periods of time.
