At Indmar Marine Engines, we are dedicated to designing, manufacturing and selling high quality inboard marine engines that deliver a mix of unrivaled performance, meticulous craftsmanship and ground breaking innovations. The Run Test Operator is a critical quality checkpoint in the Indmar production process. This hands-on position is responsible for connecting completed marine engines to our run test station and executing computer-driven diagnostic programs to verify engine performance before shipment. The ideal candidate is a mechanically driven, detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in engine assembly and diagnostics. This individual brings advanced mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience working with gasoline or marine engines, along with a working knowledge of engine systems including fuel, ignition, cooling, and electrical components. The ideal candidate has previous experience in engine diagnostics or end-of-line testing environments, is comfortable interpreting computer-based pass/fail testing programs and can quickly identify and communicate anomalies in engine performance data. Experience reading technical documentation is a plus, as is any background in marine, automotive, or powersports manufacturing environments.


This full-time position offers a great daytime schedule, work hours are 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Thursday. Pay rate will be discussed during the interview process and is based on qualifications, skills, and experience. Benefits include health insurance, paid holidays, paid time off and a retirement savings plan with a company match. Eligible for a $40.00 weekly attendance bonus. Candidate must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Requirements:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Connect completed engines to the run test station including all electrical, fuel, water, and exhaust hookups following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Download and execute engine-specific diagnostic programs into the engine's Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
  • Start engines and monitor real-time performance data to verify correct operation across all systems
  • Identify, interpret, and document diagnostic trouble codes and determine pass/fail outcomes
  • Communicate clearly with assembly and quality teams when engines require adjustments or rework
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test station environment at all times
  • Accurately complete all test records, logs and documentation in a timely manner
  • Meet production throughput targets while maintaining a zero-compromise approach to quality
  • Assisting other assembly stations and other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in engine systems (fuel, ignition, electrical, cooling)
  • Ability to operate and interpret computer-based engine diagnostic and testing programs
  • Proficient with hand tools, air tools, and standard production equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle performance anomalies
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work at a consistent production pace in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills — able to clearly document findings and collaborate with team members

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in engine diagnostics, end-of-line testing, or powertrain assembly
  • Background in marine, automotive, or powersports manufacturing
  • ASE certification or marine technician training a plus
  • Experience with ECU programming or diagnostic platforms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods on the production floor
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fuel, and exhaust
  • Manual dexterity required for connecting fittings, wiring harnesses, and test equipment
