What is the role?

Michaels Energy is seeking a sales professional with experience working with utility programs. The Energy Efficiency Outreach Specialist will interact with facility managers, business owners, contractors and utility partners for energy management programs in New Hampshire. This role focuses on building relationships and driving participation by prospecting and recruiting commercial and industrial customers into different programs, including demand response and energy assessments. This position is the main point of contact for customers and will facilitate their program journey from first interaction to project completion. We are looking for someone with strong outreach and communication skills and who has a passion for energy management and will exemplify our core values.

  • Customer Management
    • Act as the customer's point of contact for all energy projects
    • Identify and engage the target market for participation in energy efficiency programs
    • Create and execute a sales plan for the program
    • Promotes utility rebate programs to customers
    • Assist with project planning
    • Collaborates with subject matter experts to identify energy efficiency opportunities
    • Lead presentations to educate customers on the program
  • Project Management
    • Prospect and maintain a pipeline of customers
    • Manage project progress to a deadline
  • Project Administration
    • Provide status reports to the program delivery team
    • Collaborates with engineers, office personnel, facility managers, trade professionals, and utility staff to achieve customer goals
    • Track customer information in CRM software
    • Document customer meetings and activities
    • Follow and/or create program processes

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of two years of experience combining: utility energy efficiency or demand response programs, consultative sales\technical Sales, or B2B sales
  • Understanding of how customers make decisions regarding energy usage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Interest in energy efficiency and building systems
  • Ability to travel regionally up to 50% for customer meetings and occasional overnight travel to the company headquarters

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with building mechanical systems (HVAC, lighting, hot water)
  • Experience meeting monthly, quarterly, and/or annual sales targets,
  • Connections to building and facility managers or contractors in New England
  • Familiarity with CRM software
