Job description

SUMMARY
The Encapsulation Mechanic is responsible for maintenance, repair, set-up, cleaning and, in some cases, operation of all granulation, compressing, encapsulation, soft gel and coating equipment. Reports to and works under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor (Solid Dose). Complies with the Company policies and Standard Operating Procedures, observes current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and observes safety rules and regulations.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs equipment repairs, set-up, cleaning and maintenance of granulation, tablet presses, encapsulation,
softgel, coating machines and all related support equipment
• Operates machines, as needed, during the manufacturing process
• Keeps the work area cGMP compliant at all times
• Adheres to company policies and procedures and sets a positive example to others within the organization
• Assists other departments as requested and approved by the department supervisor
• Promptly reports any damages or lost materials or equipment to the immediate supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility
satisfactorily using the skills and abilities outlined in this job description. The requirements listed below are

• Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters
• Must have good knowledge of Company SOPs and cGMP guidelines
• Must be able to operate, maintain, repair, set-up and clean equipment used in at least one area of the Solid
Dose manufacturing process
• Must have good interpersonal skills
• Capable of handling fast paced production environment
• Must provide own set of hand tools

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE
• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Strong expertise in setting up and troubleshooting Zanasi and Sejong machines.
• Forklift certification, required to operate a pallet jack

TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Must be able to operate equipment, tools and measuring devices used in solid dose manufacturing
• Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word is preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to clearly communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus. Must have good reading comprehension with the ability to read, understand and execute instructions written in English.

REASONING ABILITY Must be able to analyze and interpret data relating to various projects and report issues and problems that arise. They must be able to:
• Exercise appropriate judgment to escalate issues to the Supervisor or senior management
• Focus on work assignments to ensure goals and timelines are met
• Apply knowledge of Company policies and cGMPs in the manufacturing area

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment described here are

• Work will be conducted in a standard manufacturing environment with associated distractions such as noise
from telephones, keyboards, talking, paging systems, machinery and equipment.
• Temperatures are regulated by facilities management and are not within the direct control of the
individual. Temperatures in the warehouse and production areas may be extremely hot or cold.
• Must be able to see close up while handling small parts and tools. Must be able to hear and distinguish between
sounds such as warning bells.
• Most work is done while standing or walking, while operating, assembling, dismantling, repairing or testing
machinery and equipment and requires the incumbent to reach above shoulder height or below knees, bend,
stoop, squat, kneel and crawl to retrieve or inspect items at ground or floor level; open and close cabinets or
drawers; push and pull, use manufacturing equipment and machinery throughout the workday
• Requires the ability to walk and or stand for up to eight hours per day, move throughout the facilities including
warehouse and production areas, office areas and conference rooms, in the same building or another building.
• Some work is done while sitting down, using a computer keyboard and gazing at a computer monitor; or
completing paperwork.
• Must be able to sit for up to two hours per day, stand or walk for up to eight hours per day; climb up and down
ladders without assistance; lift and carry up to 20 lbs. with or without assistance,.
• Must be able to wear a full or half-mask respirator while working with fine powders or chemicals as required by
Material Data Safety Sheets.
• Exposure to chemicals used in the manufacturing process of nutritional supplements, cosmetics, and
prescription drugs is expected. Additionally, the incumbent may be exposed to standard chemicals used in an
office environment including but not limited to toner, glue and liquid paper or white out.
• The incumbent may be required to walk or drive to a second location a short distance away.
