Job description

Overview
Celanese Acetyl Chain is seeking a Regional Business Director for the Emulsion Polymers product line. The Emulsions business line is comprised of polyvinyl acetate based homopolymer, vinyl acrylic emulsions and vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE) emulsions. These products are water-based emulsion polymers used in variety of markets such as paints & coatings, construction, packaging adhesives, textile, engineered fibers and soil stabilization. The strategic imperative for the Emulsions business is to expand on margins from upstream acetic acid and vinyl acetate monomer businesses as well as reduce earnings volatility. The business director will also be responsible for identifying projects to reduce cost via manufacturing and procurement strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Define annual operating plan (AOP) in terms of volumes, pricing, margins and costs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Be accountable for & continuously optimize operating profit for Americas Emulsions business as well as maximize integrated chain margin for the Acetyl Chain.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Technology, Finance, and Supply Chain to establish objectives consistent with the global business strategy and drive execution, maximize growth and profitability and be a strong voice on the business leadership team.
  • Maintain and manage pipeline of growth projects via share shift and innovation in partnership with Sales, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and / or business administration, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in the chemical or related industry, preferably in commercial roles
  • Strong commercial background acquired preferably via roles in sales and/or procurement.
  • Excellent persuasion skills, ability to build rapport with stakeholders at various levels to build and strengthen network in the industry and within the broader business team
  • Strategic mindset, strong commercial and business acumen with strong communication skills to inspire seamless collaboration across key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated results focus and self-driven energy. Ability to balance daily activities with medium/ long term pro-active thinking in developing and implementing strategic plans
  • Demonstrated structured and creative approaches to profitable growth, including strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable in taking and defending unpopular decisions based on sound data and analysis
  • Demonstrated "can do" attitude with positive approach to problem solving
