The Position

The Employee Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and promoting employee wellness initiatives that support all aspects of well-being of our employees. The wellness program supports the strategic goal of fostering a human-centered, well-being-oriented work culture.

This role collaborates with Human Resources, benefits providers, healthcare partners, and organizational leaders to create engaging wellness programs that improve employee health, increase participation, enhance workplace culture, and support organizational goals. This an hourly position is funded by the Virginia Private Colleges Benefits Consortium (VPCBC) with expectations of working 10 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage employee wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate wellness events, health screenings, fitness challenges, seminars, and educational programs.
  • Promote employee participation through effective communication and engagement strategies.
  • Oversee the annual wellness program budget and ensure accurate accounting records are maintained and submitted on a quarterly basis to facilitate reimbursement from the VPCBC.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter to communicate wellness initiatives, events, and resources.
  • Coordinate weekly fitness class offerings, including scheduling instructors and reserving facilities.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) vendors, and community partners to deliver wellness resources.
  • Collect and analyze employee participation and feedback to identify wellness needs and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on wellness activities, participation rates, and program outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or certifications in physical health and/or nutrition.
  • Two to four years of experience in employee wellness, health promotion, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience coordinating events, programs, or employee engagement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
