Job description

The Onboarding Specialist coordinates and supports the full employee onboarding process for Southeastern Integrated Care. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position manages onboarding activities through ADP Workforce Now, conducts required background screenings, completes employment eligibility verification, maintains accurate and audit-ready employee files, and prepares onboarding materials. The Onboarding Specialist also facilitates new employee orientation, assists with interview and HR event scheduling, supports recruitment initiatives, and identifies opportunities to improve operational workflows. Success in this role requires strong organization, communication, confidentiality, attention to detail, and knowledge of HR practices and systems.


*Position works on site in the Lumberton/Pembroke office locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage onboarding process through ADP workforce now software.
  • Conduct background investigations, NCHCRC and OIG on potential candidates.
  • Completes I9 verification forms for all new employees;
  • Manage onboarding process, preparing folders, badges, etc.;
  • Assists with scheduling interviews, HR events, and maintaining agendas;
  • Conducts the agency orientation sessions and onboarding of new employees;
  • Participates in recruitment-related projects and initiatives as assigned;
  • Maintains HR audit files for all employees;
  • Thinks critically to understand and improve our operational workflow;
  • Grasps complex processes at a high level, such as the complete employee onboarding journey;
  • Complies with the data protection measures and does not disclose personal information regarding employees or clients to unauthorized personnel;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Associate degree required.
  • One-year minimum related experience in HR or onboarding;


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle employee relations with sensitivity;
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, and Excel applications.
  • Experience with ADP or other HR system;
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task;
  • Exceptional telephone communication skills.
