This position is ideal for candidates who are graduating or have graduated with a bachelor's and are interested in gaining experience in a clinical setting before launching into a Master's program. (Speech/OT/Family Consumer Sciences/Social Work)

Position Overview: The Emerge Center is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Lead Speech Therapy Technician to join our team. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in various aspects of speech therapy within a dynamic and mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow all instructions and guidelines outlined by SLP in charge
  • Arrive on time and remain with the Bloom cohort as outlined in the daily schedule
  • Assist with morning and afternoon carpool
  • Provide leadership as outlined by Bloom Therapeutic Team, e.g. during centers, lunch, or other activities (may vary)
  • Using strategies as instructed by the Bloom Therapeutic Team, help to effectively manage behavior using principles of behavior modification with focus on positive behavior support
  • Prepare any materials needed for group therapy sessions, centers, or other activities, as directed by SLP
  • Assist with data-taking, as directed by SLP
  • Assist SLP with facilitation of play skills and peer interaction, as instructed, during large and small group activities
  • Provide support during structured circle time to help maintain attention and participation of children, as instructed
  • Facilitate each child's goals during outside play time, as instructed
  • Assist to maintain safety and control during structured activities, hallway transitions, outside play, and cafeteria
  • Follow all instructions regarding dietary restrictions or allergies for each child
  • Assist with diaper changing and/or toileting as needed
  • Follow all protocols re: infection control and HIPAA/confidentiality
  • Maintain a clean environment during session; clean up all materials at session end and make sure room is in order for next day
  • Refer all parent questions to the licensed SLP; refrain from giving any information to parents
  • Treat all clients and families with equal respect and compassion
  • Uphold the values/attitudes that will strengthen the center and maintain its mission

Qualifications:
  • High-school graduate or GED
  • Previous exposure or experience with children
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work effectively with children

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or enrolled in related, pre-professional coursework
  • Previous tech experience within Emerge programs
  • Basic understanding of child development
