To thrive as an Embedded Software Manager (Remote), you need a strong background in embedded systems development, programming (often in C/C++), and leadership experience, typically backed by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as version control systems (e.g., Git), real-time operating systems, and project management platforms is essential, along with certifications like PMP or Agile Scrum. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills are crucial for managing distributed teams and ensuring project alignment. These competencies are vital for delivering high-quality embedded solutions efficiently while fostering collaboration and innovation in a remote work environment.

The Embedded Software Manager Remote oversees teams and projects remotely, focusing on leadership and coordination. In contrast, the Embedded Software Engineer primarily focuses on coding and developing embedded systems. Both roles require similar technical credentials, but their responsibilities and work focus differ significantly.

How does an Embedded Software Manager typically balance hands-on technical work with team leadership responsibilities in a remote setting?

As an Embedded Software Manager working remotely, you’ll often split your time between technical oversight—such as reviewing code, guiding architecture decisions, and solving complex issues—and leadership tasks like mentoring engineers, facilitating communication, and aligning projects with business goals. Effective managers establish clear communication channels and leverage collaboration tools to maintain team cohesion despite the distance. While you may still participate in some hands-on development, your primary focus will shift towards enabling your team’s success, removing obstacles, and ensuring timely project delivery. This balance requires strong organizational skills and proactive engagement with both technical and managerial aspects of the role.

What does an Embedded Software Manager do, especially in a remote setting?

An Embedded Software Manager oversees teams that design, develop, and maintain embedded software—software that is built into hardware devices such as automotive systems, medical devices, or consumer electronics. In a remote role, they coordinate distributed teams, manage project timelines, ensure software quality, and facilitate communication between engineers and other stakeholders. They are responsible for technical leadership, resource allocation, and often work closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration. Effective remote management also involves using collaboration tools and agile methodologies to keep projects on track.

Job description

Siemens EDA is a global technology leader in Electronic Design Automation software. Our software tools enable companies around the world to develop highly innovative electronic products faster and more cost-effectively. Our customers use our tools to push the boundaries of technology and physics to deliver better products in the increasingly complex world of chip, board, and system design.]Closing Paragraph
Position Overview
Siemens Digital Industries Software seeks a proven and highly motivated leader to drive the Technology Solutions Sales organization for our Software Virtual Platform (SVP).
SVP is a pre-integrated, system-level digital twin solution that enables customers to begin full-system development on day one through virtual platforms that mirror real hardware, accelerating software development and reducing reliance on physical prototypes. With early customer traction established, this role will focus on scaling SVP into a repeatable growth engine while positioning Siemens as a thought leader in software-defined systems and digital twin-driven development.
You will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Technical Sales, and Portfolio teams to drive solution-focused selling, expand adoption, and shape both customer outcomes and market direction in this emerging space.
Responsibilities
• Own and lead the strategy to identify, develop, and close net-new SVP business opportunities in partnership with regional Sales and Technical Sales teams
• Drive solution-oriented, consultative selling by aligning SVP capabilities to customer outcomes such as early software development, system integration, and validation
• Establish and scale repeatable sales approaches for an emerging solution portfolio
• Act as a key connector across Sales, Technical Sales, and Portfolio Unit teams to ensure alignment and execution across complex opportunities
• Serve as a thought leader internally and externally, shaping customer strategy and contributing to industry dialogue through executive engagement, events, and strategic discussions
• Partner with Portfolio Unit and R&D teams to ensure field insights inform product direction and readiness
• Collaborate with marketing to create and deliver thought leadership content, campaigns, and demand generation programs that build pipeline and awareness
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of Account Technology Managers (ATMs), coaching on new market development and consultative selling
• Define and manage territories, contributing to multi-year SVP growth strategy and execution
• Establish best practices for selling in an emerging solution space, including messaging, qualification, and deal strategy
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, with 12+ years of experience in EDA, embedded systems, software-driven systems, or electronics industries
• Experience with virtual platforms, system simulation, embedded software development, or digital twin technologies strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success driving growth in emerging solution areas
• Proven ability to act as a thought leader, influencing customer direction and market perception
• Strong background in solution-based, consultative selling with the ability to link technical solutions to business value
• Track record of building collaboration across Sales, Technical Sales, and Portfolio teams in a matrixed environment
• Experience creating structure, repeatability, and scale in fast-moving markets
• Demonstrated success leading and developing technical sales teams
• Strong prospecting, pipeline development, and negotiation skills
• Executive-level communication and influencing skills, including engagement with C-level stakeholders
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and driving progress when the playbook is still being defined
Working Conditions
