Job description

The Embalmer at this location will hone their skills to a new level by receiving exposure to complex and unique cases you are unlikely to see in your career elsewhere. The Embalmer plays a vital role in preparing the deceased by performing restorations, handling removals and transfers, dressing, styling hair, and applying cosmetics. Additionally, the Embalmer ensures compliance with OSHA standards and precautions. Our commitment to strong local, regional, and home-office support allows our Embalmers to focus on serving our client families with compassion and professionalism.


The Embalmer duties must be performed consistently with the companyโ€™s mission and values and in adherence to company policy and procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Cares for the deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks, including embalming, removals and transfers, cosmetology, dressing, hairstyling, and any other preparation required for human remains.
  • Adheres to all applicable professional, municipal, state/provincial and federal licensing authority regulations.
  • Assists with maintenance of preparation room and the facility.
  • Cleans soiled equipment and hazardous material spills.
  • Ensures hazardous materials and spills are handled in accordance with the Material Data Safety Sheets.
  • Assists with chemical and supply inventory.
  • Receives caskets and other funeral home supplies.
  • Promotes a safe work environment by being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conduct.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited mortuary science program.
  • Valid Embalmerโ€™s license, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity (Minimum 5 years licensed in another state for reciprocation)
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Industry experience is preferred.
