Job description

We Are Hiring

Location:  Austin, TX

Facility:  Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin

Department/Specialty:  Sterile Processing

Schedule:  PRN | Hours will be determined based on departmental needs 

What You Will Do
  • Perform thorough decontamination of soiled surgical instruments, sterilization containers, and medical equipment according to manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) and established safety protocols.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and assemble surgical instruments and sets; utilize count sheets and tracking systems to validate completeness, determine repair or replacement needs, and ensure tools are ready for effective sterilization.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring all instruments, containers, and machines function properly and meet strict cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels of sterile supplies and instruments to ensure accurate and timely availability for surgical case carts.
  • Participate in the department's quality assurance program by conducting regular peer audits to maintain high standards of patient safety and compliance.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
    • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
