The Wexner Center for the Arts is The Ohio State University's multidisciplinary laboratory for contemporary art and culture from around the world. Through exhibitions, screenings, performances, educational programs, and artist residencies, the Wex serves as a vital forum where artists test ideas and audiences engage with the art and issues of our time.
Working within its Department of Marketing/Communications (M/C), the Email and Digital Marketing Specialist manages the center's email marketing campaigns and assists with the development of content for wexarts.org and other digital marketing channels. The role's primary focus is to develop compelling, high-performing email campaigns that generate ticket sales and engage audiences through strategic use of content, audience segmentation and personalization, and customer journeys.
The role works both independently and with the M/C team to strategize, plan, write, edit, and build emails (currently using Wordfly); develop and manage email project schedules; route emails internally and externally for approval; and ensure adherence to Wexner Center brand and editorial guidelines, university standards, and industry best practices. The role monitors and optimizes email performance and prepares reports and dashboards to convey insights on current data. They also stay informed on email marketing trends and industry standards.
The Email and Digital Marketing Specialist works closely with the Editorial Director, Director of Marketing Content, Social Media Manager, Senior Editors, Graphic Designer, Senior Editors, Graphic Designer, and other team members to conceive digital initiatives that capitalize on cross-channel marketing opportunities that expand the center's reach and reputation both inside and beyond the local market. In partnership with the team the role helps to update the center's website, create pages on wexarts.org promoting center events using a Drupal-based CMS, and assist with social media posts as needed.
The role requires excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills as well as flexibility in adapting to shifting priorities and demands. This is a hybrid role, with a combination of remote and in-office work. Candidate must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of HTML/CSS coding, technical production, and project management as well as familiarity with current accessibility practices.
Position is a member of the American Federation of State, County, & Municipal Employees Local 322, Ohio Council 8, AFL-CIO.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field required.
  • 2 to 3 years of related experience required, including: Email marketing, Digital content writing, Copywriting, and Content production
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of HTML and CSS as they relate to marketing emails.
  • Experience with: Email campaign development and execution, Marketing automation tools, Audience segmentation, and A/B testing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with: CRM systems, CMS platforms, Social media platforms and management tools, and Analytics and reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to both visual and written detail.
  • Knowledge of production processes and quality control.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with colleagues from diverse business areas.

Desired Qualifications
  • Two to four years of digital content experience preferred.
  • Professional experience with contemporary art and/or museum or gallery organizations preferred.
  • Experience creating and managing email marketing journeys.
  • Experience developing and executing SMS marketing campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of online marketing funnels and customer journey strategies.
  • Knowledge of how digital channels work together, including: Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social media marketing, Mobile marketing, and Content marketing
  • Basic knowledge of digital asset production.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Photoshop.

Additional Information:
  • Full-time schedule is 40 hours per week. Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and possible holidays as needed;
