Email Developers often encounter inconsistencies in how various email clients render HTML and CSS, which can make it challenging to ensure emails look and function as intended for all recipients. To address this, developers typically use inline styles, tables for layout, and test across multiple platforms and devices using tools like Litmus or Email on Acid. Staying up to date with client-specific quirks and best practices is essential, as is collaborating closely with designers and marketers to align on feasible design elements. Proactively addressing these challenges helps ensure a consistent and accessible experience for all users.

An email developer designs and builds email blasts for clients and marketing teams. In this career, your duties primarily revolve around creating templates in HTML. This involves having an eye for visual design as well as the technical capability for coding. When coding the email, you have to account for a variety of different browsers, text options, and email clients, which makes it a very different task than coding a web page. Furthermore, you need to be aware of the limits of the email service provider your organization is using, and you must stay up-to-date with any new regulations regarding spam and industry standards regarding HTML.

Job description

Description:

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Email Marketing Manager, you will lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of EWTNโ€™s email and SMS marketing efforts to support the Networkโ€™s mission of sharing the Gospel worldwide. You will create engaging donor and audience communication journeys, drive subscriber growth and retention, improve donor lifetime value, and leverage data-driven insights to strengthen relationships with current, future, and lapsed supporters. Working collaboratively across departments, you will ensure marketing campaigns are effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

You will manage and optimize email and SMS marketing programs, including audience segmentation, automation workflows, campaign execution, deliverability, compliance, and performance reporting. This role oversees list health, testing strategies, subscriber growth initiatives, and donor engagement efforts while utilizing analytics to improve acquisition, cultivation, and retention outcomes. You will collaborate with internal teams, agencies, and technology partners to enhance campaign effectiveness, expand marketing capabilities, and implement innovative strategies that maximize audience engagement. Additionally, you will maintain campaign calendars, monitor industry trends and privacy regulations, supervise the Email and SMS Marketing Specialist, and provide actionable insights through reporting and analysis.

ABOUT YOU:

You are a data-driven marketing professional with at least seven years of email marketing experience and two to three years of SMS marketing experience, including expertise in segmentation, analytics, compliance, deliverability, and marketing automation platforms. You have a proven track record of growing and optimizing email and SMS programs, understand donor behavior and conversion metrics, and can effectively communicate insights to leadership and cross-functional teams. You are comfortable working with CRM and marketing platforms such as HubSpot, Virtuous, Klaviyo, Salesforce, or similar systems, and possess the technical knowledge needed to troubleshoot deliverability and data-related issues. You thrive in collaborative environments, bring a creative and innovative approach to your work, and have a passion for understanding and engaging donor audiences. Experience in nonprofit fundraising, subscription or sustainer programs, project management tools, and design is a plus. A practicing Catholic with a passion for EWTNโ€™s mission, you hold a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

WHAT YOUโ€™LL LOVE ABOUT WORKING HERE:

  • We offer a career with purpose! Apply your talents, knowing your contributions help to advance EWTNโ€™s mission of sharing the Gospel with the world.
  • Caring environment - we value the importance of family/life balance and welcome you as an EWTN family member, not just an employee.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability insurance and Retirement Savings Plan.
  • 11 Paid Holidays and generous Paid Time Off program.
  • Tuition reimbursement through our partnership with Catholic International University.
  • Spiritual enrichment - freedom to participate in Mass, visit the chapel for prayer or attend an annual retreat.
  • Ability to learn alongside legacy employees while bringing new ideas to the growing team!
