ELGA Credit Union Commercial Loan Servicing Specialist

Department: Commercial

Reports To: Commercial Portfolio Manager

Classification: Exempt

Role:

The Commercial Loan Servicing Specialist is responsible for the safety and soundness of the Commercial/SBA loan portfolio. They will oversee the post-closing and reporting of the Commercial loan portfolio. This position oversees the funding and servicing of all Commercial/SBA loans. The Commercial Loan Servicing Specialist will be responsible for the collateral perfection and quality assurance of all Commercial/SBA loans. This role will be responsible for the oversight of research and maintenance of systems and documentation errors. They will assist in the internal file audits, third party audits, and state and federal safety and soundness examinations. This position will demonstrate a strong understanding of Credit Union policies and guidelines, as well as all state and federal laws.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • 45% - Function as a catalyst for change in making recommendations for streamlining functions and processes, providing input and support for business unit’s systems, processes, and policies.
  • Exhibit superior knowledge of credit union policies and procedures as well as a cross-functional understanding of all regulatory/compliance requirements related to the business unit for risk mitigation and monitoring.
  • Proactively participate and assist with cross-training within the department and maintaining written procedures to processes to meet business unit changes, ensuring compliance with policies and government regulations.
  • Develop positive communication and relationships with peers, partners, and external clients in resolving expedited work and supports initiatives and other duties as assigned.
  • Master the complex commercial products, processes, and systems.
  • 35% - Lead/support project-oriented work efforts of problem identification and resolution, performance, productivity improvement and quality enhancements and delivery.
  • Initiate positive change, and coordinate or direct the activities of others, which may include training fellow associates.
  • Motivate, train, counsel, and encourage teammate’s consistency of operations.
  • Observe, measure and delegate daily workload to ensure Service Level Agreement adherence and works with technology teams on enhancements.
  • 15% - Demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of systems and processes while maintaining a growth mindset and risk mitigation.
  • 5% - Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
  1. To take full responsibility for your own success with no excuses and to add comments to performance management system on your accomplishments.
  2. To meet established expectations of ELGA's Core Factors including but not limited to Accountability, Attitude, Communication, Competence, Continuous Improvement & Innovation and Relationship Building.
Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Five or more years of training or work-related experiences in business, finance, lending compliance/risk or operations.

Education: (1) Bachelor’s Degree (2) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (3) work related experience or equivalent education and related training.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills: 1. Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications 2. Professional, courteous, and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate. 3. Must be capable of operating all types of office equipment including computer, copy machine, fax, and telephone.
