Full Time Elementary Paraprofessional
Position Purpose
Plateau Valley School District 50 is seeking a dedicated and dependable individual to serve as a Full-Time Elementary Paraprofessional. This position supports students in achieving academic success while contributing to a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide instructional support to students experiencing academic difficulties.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce teacher-directed instruction.
  • Implement instructional plans under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and classroom teacher(s).
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior support strategies.
  • Support students within the regular education classroom setting.
  • Collect and document student progress data as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information at all times.
  • Assist with supervision duties as assigned (e.g., transitions, recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal).
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.

The paraprofessional works under the direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher and building administration and may receive ongoing direction and training from assigned classroom teacher(s).
Additional Duties
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administration.

Communication Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Environment
  • Works in a standard school building environment.
  • May require standing, walking, bending, and assisting students throughout the school day.
  • May be required to lift.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to student behavioral or safety needs.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience working with children is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Schedule
  • 8 hours per day
  • Monday Thursday
  • Follows the district academic calendar

Wages
Wages are based on the current Salary Scale available on www.pvsd50.org under the Financial Transparency tab.
Starting wage: $16.56 per hour.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
