Job description

Axiom is seeking a Field/Electronics Technician to focus on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing sensors for the Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS). The ASOS is a meteorological data collection system located at airports across the United States.The ideal candidate should have experience using electronic testing equipment and reading wiring diagrams and schematics. In addition to servicing and installing equipment, the Technician will perform maintenance troubleshooting and repair.When not performing routine equipment maintenance or repair, the Technician will work closely with the Facilities Lead in maintaining and repairing the facility and other meteorological equipment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTest and implement electrical systems and products based on specificationsMonitor preventive maintenance and inspection schedulesRepair and maintain electronic systems as neededPerform system testing to evaluate performance and functionalityMaintain inventory of electronic components and toolsRecommend upgrades and modifications to improve system performancePerform startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification on assigned equipment.Complete all administrative responsibilities on all work activities including daily reports, expense reports and preventive maintenance logs.Work with customers, partners and technical support to resolve escalated issues.Perform 90-day preventive maintenance duties on meteorological equipment as prescribed by the technical manual.Occasional travel required. Skills and CompetenciesAnalytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsTeamwork and interpersonal communication skillsMechanical aptitude and ability to understand wiring diagrams and schematicsWide knowledge of hand and power toolsExperience with drawing programsFamiliarity with precision measuring tools QualificationsMinimum of 3 years' experience utilizing electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment with a proficiency in electronics, electrical theory or similar discipline.Computer literacy with standard business applications.Complete competence at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment such as digital voltmeter, AC clamp meter and other electronic test devices.Fully adept at reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and theory of operation manuals.Thorough understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components.Appropriate safety techniques and practices associated with job requirements.Ability to write business reports, correspondence, procedures, effectively present information and respond to customer questions.Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 70 pounds.Axiom offers competitive compensation packages including comprehensive medical/dental/life insurance and matching 401(k) contribution.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
