Role: Automation Field Service Technician

Department: Automation

Location: Remote, United States


We are seeking an exceptional team member to join Storage Solutions as an Automation Field Service Technician. This individual will be responsible for performing both hardware and software troubleshooting and repairs across our portfolio of automation equipment. This role involves frequent travel to customer locations to troubleshoot, identify, and repair and resolve equipment and software issues. The technician will also support installation activities and sites for new projects and continuously learn new equipment technologies to support both current and future customers' needs. A typical day may include traveling to a customer location to diagnose system faults, performing repairs, or supporting clients remotely all to ensure optimal customer support.


The Automation Field Service Technician provides onsite and remote support to customer locations, ensuring optimal performance of automation systems. This role also includes additional responsibilities that support customer success and company objectives.


OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform work safely and efficiently at customer sites, adhering to all local and site requirements
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain automation equipment
  • Manage Work Orders, assets, and inventory at client sites
  • Evaluate automated systems performance and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and best practices
  • Identify and engage with potential equipment and/or material suppliers
  • Utilize technical and reference manuals to support and ensure proper diagnostics and repairs
  • Develop and maintain knowledge base of issues and resolutions for timely reference and response to incidents
  • Utilize hand and power tools as required
  • Prepare field service reports, including work performed, parts usage, and recommendations
  • Travel as required to support customer to sites
  • Work with the client, suppliers, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve issues
  • Build and maintain professional internal and external relationships with coworkers, leadership, subcontractors, and clients across all levels
  • Perform additional duties in support of company goals and strategic initiatives
  • Support the development of training plans, materials and other documentation
  • Follow all company & and site-specific policies and procedures


KNOWLEGDE & SLILL REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking to fill two of these roles at varying experience levels, please review below:

Entry Level:

Associate's degree with a focus in the Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls field or other related experience. Candidates with demonstrated practical, hands-on experience may be given additional consideration.

Experience: 1+ years:

  • Experience maintaining or repairing material handling automation equipment
  • Experience working with vendors to develop and deploy maintenance strategies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Customer focused mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time

Mid Level:

Bachelor's degree with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical, or controls fields. Candidates with demonstrated practical, hands-on experience may be given additional consideration.

Experience: 5+ years:

  • Over 2 years of experience maintaining Robotics, conveyor systems and PLCs, VLMs, and other material handling equipment
  • Experience in reading construction drawings, mechanical detail drawings and electrical schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Knowledge of current industry safety and regulation standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ISO).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Experience maintaining material handling automation equipment
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills
  • Customer focused
  • Able to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Experience with MaintainX CMMS software platform

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Up to 50% travel, domestically and internationally
