Job Summary
Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we're calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Test Engineering Manager located in Columbia, SC.
Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager the Test Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of testing procedures, strategies, systems, components, and modifications. Acts as an advisor to test engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations and acts as a liaison to other engineering functions. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.
What a typical day looks like:
  • Directs and/or coordinates electronic engineering and/or technical personnel in fabrication and design of testing and test control apparatus and equipment, or software and systems testing.
  • Directs and coordinates electronic engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required to test, telemeter and record test data.
  • Defines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
  • Interfaces and confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, data interpretation or coding issues.
  • Evaluates and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by electronic or software engineering, and management personnel.
  • Develops or uses computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems or software.
  • Trains and instructs floor support, test technicians and test operators on test hardware and/or software, as well as proper problem-solving techniques.
  • Resolves test yield problems by performing evaluation of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements.
  • Coordinates all activities and all testers during each testing phase of a project or program.
  • Maintains awareness of testing alternatives at a level where they can be analyzed and the most effective testing strategy selected and agreed.
  • Assesses and advises on the practicality of testing process alternatives.
  • Identifies improvements to the process and assists in their implementation.
  • Ensures that any risks associated with the agreed test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the clients/users and colleagues.
  • Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
  • Plans, arranges, and controls meetings, workshops and relations with client/user staff during test planning and throughout subsequent development and testing activities.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training. A Master's or MBA degree is preferred. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including supervision.
  • Demonstrates functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills. Demonstrates expertise in multiple areas and industry.
  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
  • Use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: typing, telephones, data entry, HR related and office software to include; word processing, spread sheets, and presentation packages. Must have a good knowledge of employment law and company practices, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or styles. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
