Job description

Our client is a vertically integrated engineering and manufacturing company specializing in advanced electronics, embedded systems, precision electromechanical assemblies, and UAV technology systems. Their products are designed, manufactured, tested and distributed globally to customers requiring exceptional performance, reliability, and innovation. This is a hands-on lab role for someone whose expertise is working with electronic assemblies, test equipment, schematics, soldering/rework, troubleshooting and test data collection.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Electronics Technician to build, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and support the development of UAV systems, and prototype electronic assemblies. This role works closely with engineering/product development, production, and teams to assemble high-performance UAV systems, integrate electronic components, perform testing, and assist in bringing new products from concept through production.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with electronics, meticulous soldering, UAV technology, and precision assembly. Experience as an FPV hobbyist, drone builder, or electronics technician is highly desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble FPV drones, UAV systems, and prototype products from engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Build and wire electronic assemblies including:
  • Flight controllers
  • Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs)
  • Brushless motors
  • GPS modules
  • Radio receivers
  • Video transmitters
  • Cameras
  • Power distribution boards
  • Antennas
  • Perform meticulous, precision soldering of surface mount (SMT) and through-hole electronic components.
  • Assemble and route wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Configure and install firmware on flight controllers and electronic devices.
  • Perform system integration, calibration, and functional testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using diagnostic equipment.
  • Document prototype builds, modifications, and test results.
  • Assist engineering with product validation, design improvements, and prototype revisions.
  • Support new product introduction and transition from prototype to production.
  • Maintain organized workstations and follow and quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes and product reliability.
  • Assist with inventory of electronic components and prototype materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Electronic Engineer is highly desirable. Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience assembling electronic products or prototypes.
  • Experience with precision soldering and electronic component assembly.
  • Ability to read:
  • Schematics
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Assembly drawings
  • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building FPV drones or UAV systems.
  • Active FPV pilot or drone hobbyist.
  • Familiarity with:
  • Betaflight
  • INAV
  • ArduPilot
  • PX4
  • Experience in configuring ESCs and flight controllers.
  • Knowledge of LiPo batteries and battery management systems.
  • Experience with brushless motors and propulsion systems.
  • Experience working in prototype development or low-volume manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with 3D printed components and rapid prototyping.
