Roll-Rite, Gladwin, Michigan
As the Electronics Engineer, you will play a vital role working on the existing hardware and creating the next generation automated tarping systems. This includes designing many different products working closely with other hardware engineers, software engineers and technical design partners.
We are looking for a self-driven hands-on individual with exceptional technical abilities who is confident to span the topics of overall operations of embedded engineering and vendor management in the very fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities include creating bills of materials, electrical drawings, progress reports and functional test specifications and reports.
  • Work with multiple vendors including but not limited to design partners, sourcing partners and hardware manufacturers.
  • Own and operate the existing hardware platforms making iterative improvements, bug fixing and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers. Enhance value chain by supporting management, engineering, R&D, integration, procurement, delivery, and work with teams to improve techniques and drive engineering best-practices.
  • Work with Production and Manufacturing Teams to implement best-practices design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Support cross-functional team-based approach to system level design optimization.
  • Maintain design records, assets, and repositories.
  • Benchmark competitive products and applications.
  • Maintain product technical literature.
  • Provide product knowledge and installation support to Sales team, R&D Technicians, Customer Service and End users.
  • Develop and automate functional tests to support quality assurance.

Qualifications:
  • Experience with electrical harness and system design preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electronic design for EMC / EMI compliance.
  • Experience with RF - Developing interactions using Bluetooth/BLE, and Wi-Fi protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design and components including MPUs, UART, CAN, A/D, D/A converters, RAM/Flash memories, and other digital electronics.
  • Experience with Altium eCAD software preferred.
  • Experience with test equipment such as signal generators, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory test and debug.
  • Experience for testing embedded software and test automation.

Education:
  • BS or MS in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience implementing and maintaining embedded systems.
