Lead Electronic Security Technician

Richmond Security, Inc. (RSI) | Central Virginia | On-Site

Position Summary

Richmond Security, Inc. (RSI) is seeking a Lead Electronic Security Technician to help drive our transformation into the region's most respected, full-spectrum security integrator. This position is central to our 2026 mission: Commitment to Excellence.

RSI delivers fully integrated security strategies that combine physical security hardware, access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection-a layered approach to protecting people, property, and critical assets.

This is a leadership role for a high-performing field technician who's ready to step into a position where their mentorship, decision-making, and jobsite leadership are recognized and rewarded. It's more than turning screws and pulling wire-it's helping build a team and culture that sets the standard.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead 2–3 person installation teams on commercial, government, and institutional electronic security projects.
  • Deliver installations on time and within budgeted labor hours while maintaining RSI quality and compliance standards.
  • Set the tone on-site by training, mentoring, and supporting junior technicians.
  • Ensure all system work-hardware installation and programming-aligns with layered security best practices.
  • Maintain jobsite professionalism and serve as a trusted company ambassador with clients and stakeholders.
  • Help identify and ethically recruit top field talent from the market.
  • Participate in install reviews, tool talks, and KPI reviews as RSI builds a high-performing, accountability-driven team.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • 5+ years installing and commissioning access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems.
  • Proven ability to lead field teams and enforce quality, productivity, and accountability.
  • Experience with one or more systems such as Lenel, Brivo, Avigilon Alta, Avigilon Unity, Honeywell, Axis, Hanwha, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability (and desire) to mentor others and raise team performance.
  • Working knowledge of field documentation, labor tracking, and professional customer interaction.
  • Understanding of how physical and electronic security work together in a layered protection model.
  • DCJS-compliant or eligible to become compliant.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturer certifications and formal product training.
  • OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety credentials.
  • Prior leadership experience-or a clear desire to grow into field supervision/management.
