JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning in the Electronics Engineering Technology program. The instructor may be assigned to teach courses in other electronics programs in the Industrial Technologies department, or other related courses in other programs in the Industrial Technology department. Teaching responsibilities include both lecture and laboratory settings. Teaching assignments are predominantly in the daytime, but occasionally may occur in the evening. This position requires strong organizational skills, good communication skills, ability to effectively deliver practical hands-on instruction, team-teaching skills, curriculum development skills, and demonstrated experience working in or with the electronics manufacturing or engineering sector. The instructor must be accessible to students, serve on department and college committees, and maintain relationships with electronics organizations and businesses. Must be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined in the College's Quality Faculty Plan.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate learning for students at the college.
  • Create and maintain syllabi for all courses taught.
  • Effectively organize and deliver instruction in accordance with established syllabi, teaching assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules, and locations.
  • Evaluate and report student performance and progress.
  • Provide guidance and advising for current and prospective students.
  • Request and maintain instructional equipment and supplies for classroom and laboratory use.
  • Must maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.
  • Make recommendations concerning curriculum revision and development.
  • Assist in the development of new courses and revision of existing courses in the department.
  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of Kirkwood's electronic programs.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates Degree plus three year's full-time experience in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required. At least one year of frequency experience is also necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution is preferred. Successful community college teaching experience preferred.
