GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning in the Electronics Engineering Technology program. The instructor may be assigned to teach courses in other electronics programs in the Industrial Technologies department, or other related courses in other programs in the Industrial Technology department. Teaching responsibilities include both lecture and laboratory settings. Teaching assignments are predominantly in the daytime, but occasionally may occur in the evening. This position requires strong organizational skills, good communication skills, ability to effectively deliver practical hands-on instruction, team-teaching skills, curriculum development skills, and demonstrated experience working in or with the electronics manufacturing or engineering sector. The instructor must be accessible to students, serve on department and college committees, and maintain relationships with electronics organizations and businesses. Must be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined in the College's Quality Faculty Plan.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate learning for students at the college.
- Create and maintain syllabi for all courses taught.
- Effectively organize and deliver instruction in accordance with established syllabi, teaching assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules, and locations.
- Evaluate and report student performance and progress.
- Provide guidance and advising for current and prospective students.
- Request and maintain instructional equipment and supplies for classroom and laboratory use.
- Must maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.
- Make recommendations concerning curriculum revision and development.
- Assist in the development of new courses and revision of existing courses in the department.
- Assist in the evaluation and assessment of Kirkwood's electronic programs.
- Engage in professional development activities.
- Attend department meetings.
- Serve on department and college committees.
- Assist in promotion of department programs.
- Actively maintain industry relationships to support program relevance, student employment, and advisory board engagement.
- Demonstrate a commitment to community engagement and student-centered practices, while approaching work with professionalism and resilience.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Be able and willing to represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.
- Possess the ability to organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
- Be able and willing to deliver courses in alternative delivery times and methods as required by the department, including evening, guided self-study, Internet, and telecommunications courses.
- Manage a classroom setting in a way or manner that is acceptable and consistent with department and College objectives, guidelines, policies and practices.
- Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgement when making classroom decisions.
- Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week and be available on an as needed basis for student questions and discussions regarding their performance.
- Make appropriate referrals for students to other college personnel such as advisors, counselors, financial aid officers, and related college personnel as needed.
- Maintain knowledge in college policies and departments in order to help students with course sequence choices.
- Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.
- Be a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual who demonstrates leadership and collaborative work habits within the department and in active participation in college committees.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and general public.
- Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
- Possess strong human relations skills. Get along with diverse personalities.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves sitting and/or standing most of the time in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying and lifting up to 20 pounds. Frequent (34-66%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting and grasping. Constant (67-100%) talking, hearing and viewing various types of close work. May travel to other on-campus facilities, off-campus facilities and business to teach, attend meetings, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree plus three year's full-time experience in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required. At least one year of frequency experience is also necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution is preferred. Successful community college teaching experience preferred.
