Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Electrical Engineer in Reno, NV. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing and reviewing comprehensive electrical designs, one-line diagrams, and load calculations for commercial, industrial, and hyperscale data center projects. This role ensures National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance while collaborating with preconstruction, estimating, and field teams to deliver high-quality electrical solutions from bid through project execution.

Job Type: Permanent

Annual Salary: $100,000 to $125,000 Annually BOE

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review electrical designs, one-line diagrams, and load calculations for commercial, industrial, or data center/hyperscale projects.
  • Perform code compliance reviews in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to support accurate and competitive project bids.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and field foremen throughout project execution to ensure design intent.
  • Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) related to the electrical scope of work.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to identify design or constructability issues.
  • Support material takeoffs, vendor coordination, and change order tracking as needed.
  • Maintain organized project files, historical pricing data, and detailed design documentation.
  • Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and confirm design intent meets project specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering and design specifically within the construction industry.
  • Proven background in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical/data center electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with MEP coordination and design-assist project delivery methods.
  • Experience managing electrical scopes of work valued up to $9MM.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant local codes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, Bluebeam, and similar design and takeoff software.
  • Experience with Procore or comparable construction management platforms is highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to conduct site visits to construction locations which may involve walking on uneven terrain.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close-up work involving computer screens and detailed technical drawings.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required occasionally during site evaluations.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000 annually, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
