We are hiring aFull-Time, Permanentdual ticket Electrical/Instrumentation Technician working out ofAurum in Edmonton, AB.
As an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in keeping critical water and wastewater infrastructure operating safely and reliably. Working at the journeyman level, you'll troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize electrical and control systems that support essential community services.
You'll balance both electrical and instrumentation work-bringing strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to solving problems, improving reliability, and minimizing downtime.

Whatyou'dbe responsible for
Reporting to theManager, Flow Control Electrical,theElectrical/Instrumentation Technicianis accountable for, but not limited to:
- Providinginput to maintenanceplans anddirections andensuringon-going appropriate relationships with other positions.
- Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics, including Quality Standards, Health and Safety, Key Performance Indicators and Schedule Compliance.
- Performing Electrician & Instrumentation work, including:
- Responding to, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing faults in electrical systems and equipment.
- Executing preventative maintenance tasks.
- Investigating, tracing and labeling existing wiring control systems.
- Drawing schematic wiring diagrams for built drawings to compliment the reference library.
- Interpreting drawings and the manufacturer's specifications for the installation, modification or repair of equipment.
- Installing new CSA approved electrical equipment according to regulations designated in the Electrical Code.
- Installing, programming and wiring logic controllers and graphic systems.
- Fabricating electrical components as required.
- Supporting and training others under apprenticeship programs.
- Supporting project execution by providing technical support in the electrical/instrument field.
- Maintaining, repairing, calibrating, and installing electrical/instrumentation equipment.
- utilize Operational SCADA systems, such as PLC ladder logic, DCS function blocks/modules and Graphical User Interfaces for troubleshooting and analysis.
- Reviewing and updating plant documentation such as drawings, department specifications, standard operation procedures,andlibrary manuals.
- Utilizing software such as Rockwell Automation, RS Linx,Delta V, and AutoCAD Lite.
- Commissioning control and power systems
- Preparing Change Management Documents for approval.
- Responding to emergency calloutsand participating in standby/callout duties.
- Review and update drawings.
- Scoping and purchasing required materials and parts.
- Preparing sketches and diagrams, estimating materials andreviewinglabourrequirements for specific projects.
- Maintaining equipment service and repair records.
- Making safety a priority and supporting the achievement of a "zero injury" culture by:
- Focusing on peer-to-peer safety discussions and interventions.
- Reviewing hazard risk assessments and developing appropriate Safe Work Plans.
- Completing work site inspections and observations.
- Ensuring full compliance with PPE requirements.
- Reporting, investigating and initiating corrective action for all safety incidents
What'srequired to be successful
- Grade 12 diploma (GED or equivalent level of secondary education).
- Alberta Journeyman Electrician and Journeyman Instrument Technician certification.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a certified Journeyman (Water/Wastewater experience is an asset).
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across electrical and control systems.
- Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, motor control centers, VFDs, and related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Solid understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office business software.
- Licensing requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License is required
- 6 or fewer demerits
- Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver's permit
- Driver Abstract may be required
- Past infractions for unsafe driving may result in non-selection
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License is required
- Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity inherent to the work performed, as well as to function effectively outside under a variety of weather conditions andthroughall seasons. Please note that due to the nature of this position you willbe requiredto work in confined spaces which requires the use of a respirator for extended periods
