Job description

Electrical Designer โ€“ Architectural

Location: Calgary / Western Canada preferred

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent (Remote/Hybrid)

Salary Range: $85,000โ€“$115,000, depending on experience

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support electrical design and project delivery for commercial, retail, and light industrial projects across Canada.


This role is best suited for a technically strong electrical design professional who can prepare coordinated drawing packages, apply Canadian Electrical Code requirements, support permitting and construction, and work closely with architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, petroleum, and project management teams


The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in AutoCAD, Revit, power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm, communications, low-voltage systems, site coordination, and commercial building electrical design


Key Responsibility

  • Prepare electrical drawings, design documents, and permit/construction packages for commercial, retail, convenience store, QSR, and light industrial projects
  • Design and coordinate electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, communications, security, CCTV, IT/data, and other low-voltage syste
  • ms.Apply the Canadian Electrical Code, provincial building codes, client standards, and applicable safety requirements
  • Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, designers, project managers, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure design packages are accurate, complete, and constructible
  • Review drawings for quality, code compliance, coordination issues, and practical construction requirements
  • Support site reviews, inspections, field coordination, construction questions, and issue resolution during project execution
  • For senior-level candidates, provide technical guidance, mentor junior team members, review department work, and help manage electrical design workload


Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, or a related fi
  • eld.Minimum 5 years of electrical design/technologist experience; senior-level candidates should bring approximately 10+ years of relevant experience and P.Tech Certification would be ideal
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and commercial building electrical systems.
  • Experience designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, security/CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to produce accurate, coordinated, permit-ready and construction-ready drawing packages.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be based in Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan
