Job description

We are the world's top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers. Customers include not only the world's major vehicle providers and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), but also clients from the international motor sports community.
We are hiring a Breadboard Test Engineer to work in Dearborn, MI.
Complete physical validation of Software/Hardware functionality at major program milestones.
• Drive pre-test readiness, troubleshoot Design Verification (DV) issues, and provide requirement assessment documentation
• Coordinate FDJ electrical breadboard build: identify vehicle specification, generate bill of material for all required electrical components needed to construct breadboard.
• Order electrical parts in coordination with purchasing teams, manage part delivery timing.
• Coordinate electrical FDJ breadboard construction in electrical laboratory in with operations team and high voltage teams.
• Create electrical systems test plan according to vehicle feature content.
• Manage ECU software configuration, maintenance and testing on Breadboard in support of milestone delivery.
• Operate with exceptional integrity to deliver Global Product Development System (GPDS) gateway/milestones on time to established acceptance criteria.
• Self-motivated individual with passion to deliver results, drive to improve the current processes, and develop new best practices
• Execute validation testing for each new software/hardware release.
• Execute DV efficiency objectives.
Position Duties:
• Determine program content that impacts electrical DV by using documented program detail as well as communication with D&R and program management. Identify New Technology, test time required and Complexity Drivers. Generate test plan analysis to determine number of BB's required to complete testing by milestone.
• Establish robust but efficient electrical DV plans and set up electronic Design Verification System, JIRA, Testrail and FEDE, according to those DV plans.
• Create pre-test documentation - currently Enhanced Laboratory Management System (ELMS) and Sprite Replacement on Unauthorized Technology (SPROUT)
• Ensure proper test direction for DV, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) & Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), and as needed, development and Production Validation (PV)
• Manage the software implementation on FDJ BBs, communicate the DV Plan through use of D&V Chart, identify and establish root cause for issues, identifying common cause and driving for robust solutions in software code. Communicating issues utilizing JIRA and D&V Chart. Communicate Feature and System functionality with the DCV Build team to ensure a quality build.
• Communicate feature testing status in management meetings to ensure a successful DCV drivable unit build event
• Manage software implementation on DCV Signoff BBs to ensure robust testing. Maintain software levels on BBs to ensure discipline delivery of capability for requesting community, as directed by the FSSIV Systems team.
• Resolve and/or elevate all issues that jeopardize PEC/ FEC sign-off milestones.
• Understand and suggest revisions to procedures and requirements to assess comply/non-comply for areas of responsibility.
• Assess sign-off requirements for electrical DV on time and with appropriate data in appropriate test data repository.
• Support both certification and development testing for type approval and homologation, develop test documentation and support witness testing.
• Work with Core Engineering and Test Operations to correlate requirements to customer needs, improve test method accuracy and efficiency, and support analytical tool development.
• Schedule and execute test cases of the electrical feature requirements specified in JAMA.
• Develop, maintain and update simulator hardware and software model test systems for automotive validation testing. Identify opportunities to automate testing.
Position Qualifications & Critical Skills - Required:
  • Bachelor's degree (BSEE) in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • 1+ years of experience in vehicle and breadboard electrical feature validation.
  • 1+ years of experience with CANalyzer, VehicleSpy, and python scripting.
  • 1 +Experience with JIRA Issue tracking tools.

Position Qualifications & Critical Skills - Preferred:
  • Experience in Electrical systems design and/or electrical/functional testing with a solid working knowledge of electrical & software components and wire harnesses.
  • Experience with certification and homologation, FMVSS and ECE requirements, testing laboratories & pre-test preparation.
  • Experience in program management ensuring that components and systems are developed according to official product development systems.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment: mechanics, engineers, technicians, technologists, and suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills and proficient in utilizing MS Office products (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and SharePoint sites
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for simulation.
  • Experience with VISION ATI, Vehicle Spy, Wireshark.
  • Capable of using related Ford systems - currently Advanced Vehicle Bill of Material (AVBOM), ELMS, Corporate Procurement and Receiving System (CPARS), FEDE, Global Prototype Inventory Requisitioning and Scheduling (GIPRS), Global Integrator, SPROUT, Teamcenter, VSEM, Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) and GPDS program timing
  • Able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to cover workload peaks, including flexible weekday hours and weekend work
  • High energy, self-starter with the ability and desire to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision. Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Good collaboration skills, ability to work with multiple people and manage a variety of projects simultaneously with solid organizational skills
  • Ability and courage to effectively communicate key issues and recommendations to management.
