How much do electrical subcontractor jobs pay per year?
What are some common challenges electrical subcontractors face when coordinating with general contractors and other trades on a construction project?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an electrical subcontractor, and why are they important?
What is the difference between Electrical Subcontractor vs Electrician?
| Aspect | Electrical Subcontractor | Electrician |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Licenses, certifications, and specialized training | Licenses and apprenticeships |
| Work Environment | Projects on construction sites, commercial, and industrial projects | Residential, commercial, and industrial settings |
| Employer | Hired by general contractors or project managers | Employed by contractors or self-employed |
Electrical subcontractors typically handle large-scale electrical installations on construction sites, working under general contractors. Electricians perform electrical work directly in residential, commercial, or industrial settings, often as employees or independent workers. While both roles require licensing and similar skills, subcontractors focus on project management and large-scale installations, whereas electricians focus on hands-on electrical work.
What is an electrical subcontractor?
What does an electrical subcontractor do?
As an electrical subcontractor, you take on independent contracts as you install and perform maintenance on electrical components. Line contractors work with high voltage power stations, but most subcontractors work with the wiring inside of buildings. Your duties may include cable design, electrical system repair, and regular maintenance of components. As an electrical subcontractor, you often work with other electricians on a construction project.
