Job description

Scope of Work: The Design Engineer is accountable for the design and engineering of assigned projects, ensuring the integration and coordination of technical designs with other internal departments and external consultants. This role involves reviewing completed design work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Engineering: Responsible for the design, planning, organizing, and development of documents, methods, approaches, and techniques for conceptual and interpretive drafting of design-build or plan/spec projects.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Confers with Operations, Purchasing, Marketing, Business Development, and Estimating departments to resolve technical support issues and coordinate production scheduling.
  • External Collaboration: Interacts with engineers, architects, consultants, owners, representatives, and electrical equipment vendors to resolve design issues and ensure project requirements are met.
  • Document Preparation: Research, develop, and prepare design documents, and review completed work to ensure the adequacy and accuracy of drawings and designs.
  • Licensing and Compliance: Assist in the procurement and upkeep of electrical licensing requirements as directed by the Vice President.
  • Continuous Improvement: Upgrade skills and education to maintain the level of expertise required by branch operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Education: High school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience. A college degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • High degree of technical knowledge and proficiency in Revit.
    • Knowledge of electrical construction and proficiency in NEC code standards.
    • Experience with computer estimating applications.
  • SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
    • Strong administrative and computer skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
