About the role:
As a Principal Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Engineer you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, optimization, and reliability of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical systems supporting manufacturing processes at the Columbia Fuels Facility. You will provide strategic direction, advanced engineering expertise, and leadership in improving plant performance, safety, and operational efficiency within a regulated fuel production environment.
You will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and be located at our Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility in Columbia, SC. This role requires onsite presence 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Be a SME for instrumentation, control systems, electrical systems, and automation architecture
  • Lead development of advanced control and electrical system strategies
  • Oversee Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA, electrical distribution systems, and safety instrumented systems
  • Improve programs for process efficiency, power reliability, and asset performance
  • Analyze process and electrical system data to implement corrective actions
  • Support troubleshooting of complex process, control system, and electrical issues
  • Lead capital projects including electrical infrastructure, instrumentation, and control system integration
  • Ensure compliance with safety, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Support PSM activities including HAZOP, electrical hazard analysis, and MOC processes
  • Mentor junior engineers across instrumentation, controls, and electrical disciplines

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of industrial or manufacturing experienceโ€ข
  • Expertise in instrumentation, controls, and power systems
  • Experience with DCS/PLC platforms
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and process control principles

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
