Job description

We are looking for hard-working, reliable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Maintenance Helper. In this role you will be responsible for the timely and effective maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of various brands and types of heavy equipment. This will include electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics, parts inventory and ordering, report writing, and scheduling. This position is based at our Norcross yard.

 This position will work  in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities for a Maintenance Helper.

  • Assists in Conducting basic to moderately complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, and service and repair tasks for fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, and cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment.
  • Assists in Conducting  routine maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
  • Assists in Conducting in Maintaining accurate service records on all work performed.
  • Assists in the order and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area.
  • Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.

Qualifications for a Maintenance Helper

  • Vocational/Technical degree highly desired.
  • Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience highly desired.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to complete, and successfully pass a drug screen, physical and background check.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Climbing:  Frequently.  Ascending or descending stairs on a daily basis. 
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching:  Occasionally.  When needing to access office supplies or equipment or to work on systems, software or wiring.
  • Standing/Walking:  Frequently.  On a daily basis, within office building, as well as outside or within manufacturing plant.
  • Reaching:  Continually.  To retrieve supplies, equipment or files/paperwork.  
  • Pushing/Pulling/Lifting:  Occasionally.  To move items within the office environment.
  • Grasping:  Continually.  To move office supplies or equipment, to write, or to operate hand or power tools.
