Scope
The Electrical Engineer II will support electrical infrastructure planning for oil and gas expansion and operations in the Permian Basin. This is a campus-based planning position working as part of a team in Spring, with approximately one trip per quarter to Midland.
The role has no field or construction execution scope. Its primary focus is determining how much electrical power new operational demand will require, assigning that demand to the grid, and identifying the appropriate power source based on available infrastructure options.
The engineer will interface with engineering, operations, project, and construction personnel responsible for executing the physical grid connections.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate anticipated electrical demand associated with new and expanding Permian operations.
  • Determine how much electrical power will be required to support new loads.
  • Assign new electrical loads to appropriate existing or planned grid infrastructure.
  • Determine where power should be sourced based on available capacity and infrastructure options.
  • Analyze the electrical network and recommend opportunities to consolidate loads.
  • Coordinate the prioritization of electrical construction projects based on new demand being added.
  • Monitor the status and readiness of electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Interface with the teams responsible for constructing the connections between the electrical grid and operational demand.
  • Apply mathematical and engineering principles to electrical system planning and design.
  • Review and comment on electrical engineering work performed internally and by contractors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with company specifications, standards, codes, safety criteria, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate project progress, priorities, technical issues, dependencies, and risks across company functions.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 5โ€“15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, load assignment, capacity analysis, power sourcing, or grid planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical design standards, specifications, codes, and applicable safety criteria.
  • Ability to evaluate electrical demand and assign loads to appropriate infrastructure components.
  • Ability to coordinate priorities and track electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequently changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English, particularly in technical and business communications.
  • Ability to travel to Midland approximately once per quarter.
Preferred Experience
  • Electrical infrastructure planning for upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Experience supporting Permian Basin production growth or field-development projects.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering and construction teams responsible for physical grid connections.
  • Familiarity with Milsoft or RBI software is beneficial but not required.
