Job description

Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer II, you will understand Vertiv's unique approach to rack PDU manufacturing in order to develop new products and custom solutions for our customers.

You will collaborate with project management, offering management, development engineering, test engineering, and operational teams around the globe to develop and launch new products.  As part of the product life cycle, you will support and maintain the product design.

Our ideal candidate is a highly driven, self-motivated individual who will bring an ability to meet aggressive timelines, be comfortable working with other functional roles in order to gain the inputs required for their work and enjoy working in an engineering lab testing new designs. 

This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Lincoln, NE location.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with marketing, program management, and engineering to define products and generate specifications. 
  • Generate work estimates, timelines, and PCB BOM cost estimates for projects. 
  • Evaluate design alternatives to maximize functionality and minimize cost. 
  • Generate schematics and PCB layouts for electronics to be used in products or test systems.
  • Build hardware, write test firmware, and verify prototypes. 
  • Support validation testing efforts. 
  • Develop PCBA level functional test systems. 
  • Ensure system designs meet initial requirements and are technically sound. 
  • Support compliance-testing efforts. 
  • Support manufacturing engineering throughout new product introduction process. 
  • Support legacy products through sustaining engineering efforts. 
  • Act as technical consultant to program management for new product concepts. 
  • Supports ISO Quality System, Quality Policy, and Continuous Improvement efforts. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 plus years of relevant experience
  • Embedded system design, schematic capture, and PCB layout expertise. 
  • Microprocessor based digital hardware design expertise (TI, NXP, ARM preferred). 
  • Mixed signal circuit design expertise (low speed analog, power supply design). 
  • Ability to operate lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, data loggers, power sources, etc.
  • Printed circuit board assembly testing experience a plus.
  • Good communication and technical writing skills. 
  • IPC, UL, FCC, CE, and related conformance testing familiarity preferred, but not required. 
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
