Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is a critical role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable electrical infrastructure and equipment for the Ultem chemical operations and compounding plants. This position is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems, automation, and control equipment to ensure high reliability for equipment protection and maximum uptime for production. This position requires a strong technical background in an engineering discipline, as well as excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
How You Can Be The Impact
  • Provide technical support for the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of electrical systems and instrumentation within a chemical environment.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, process engineering, and project teams to integrate electrical solutions into manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee the electrical maintenance program, including PM/PdM schedules, critical spare sourcing, inspections, panel labeling, and documentation updates. Interface with site infrastructure team for coordination of work across ownership boundaries of the site/unit electrical systems.
  • Serve as the in-house expert for drive configurations, variable frequency drives (VFDs), AC/DC drives, and control systems.
  • Serve as the subject-matter-expert on the root-cause analysis on electrical equipment failures, ensuring corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead/consult on electrical engineering projects from conception to commissioning. This includes developing scope, estimating costs, creating specifications, and managing contractors.
  • Champion the electrical safety program, including arc flash studies, relay coordination, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety training for technicians.
  • Participate in process safety management activities including process hazard analyses, and management of change reviews.
  • Own and oversee a 5-year to 10-year Capital Maintenance Plan electrical improvements and strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations, including permitting, inspections, documentation, and adherence to industry standards.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (or related field)
  • At least 3- 5 years' experience in an electrical/operations/industrial engineering position preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with high reliability and self-reliance
  • In-depth understanding of electrical engineering, electrical equipment, VFDs, controls, and instrumentation
  • Ability to inspire and guide others toward identifying and achieving vision and goals
  • Demonstrated ability to meet program and/or operating plan
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of SAP for electrical equipment maintenance administration
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-collaboratively with site support teams/functions

Work Availability
Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work Monday - Friday during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
