Summary

Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for powering critical infrastructure? Weโ€™re looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer with power systems expertise to join our multidisciplinary team and lead the electrical design on impactful projects in water, wastewater, irrigation, structural, transportation, and civil engineering. In this role, youโ€™ll bring your technical knowledge to power distribution design, medium voltage and 480V systems, electrical system evaluations, dry utility undergrounding, and utility coordination, as well as instrumentation and control (I&C) design. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple concurrent Electrical Design projects.
  • Work with other Senior Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to provide a quality experience for our customers and successful integration to meet each customerโ€™s needs.
  • Review proposals to ensure technical accuracy for own projects.
  • Work with engineering teams on the coordinated Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Controls Design for projects.
  • Assist with managing department projects.
  • Mentor and supervise other engineers.
  • Conduct periodic visits to construction sites to monitor quality and progress of the work.
  • Coordinate with government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals.
  • Travel locally and occasionally out of state to project sites for meetings or field work.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in all work tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

โ€Education and/or Experience

Candidates should possess a B.S. degree from an ABET accredited electrical engineering or related program and at least 15 years of experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • PE Required: This position is for a licensed engineer to practice electrical engineering in Nevada, CA, and Oregon and Montana, Arizona, and Alaska (PE required in one state with other states added after employment at DOWL).
  • Candidate must be able to obtain additional licenses as needed to perform work in other states as needed.
  • Driving is an essential job function or a valid driverโ€™s license is required to support legitimate business purposes.

  • Design of all industrial electrical and building electrical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical plans for PCIS and SCADA related projects with controls engineers.
  • Electrical schematics and panel design.
  • Project Documentation and O&M Manuals.
  • Provide prebid review, site surveys, and review of proposals for own projects.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Site design including but not limited to power supply for pumping stations and wells, backup power, site/building lighting, metering, VFDโ€™s, solar, security, dry utility undergrounding, transportation, dams, and airport runway lighting design.
  • Coordination with structural, mechanical, civil, and controls team members as well as the power company, owner, and agency coordination.
  • NEC, Arc Flash, IEEE compliance where required.
  • Provide accurate system diagrams, loop diagrams, block diagrams, and network diagrams.
  • Work with team of project engineers to assist in career development and training.
