The Opportunity:
LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, provides integrated engineering and design solutions for the Energy, Petrochem, Renewables, Water Treatment and Life Sciences markets. In addition to conventional facility solutions and designs, our projects include Hydrogen Electrolysis, Ammonia Production Facilities, Renewable Natural Gas Processing, Emissions Reduction Studies, Carbon Capture and Sequestration, Wastewater, Pharmaceuticals, and much more.
Your Role:
Electrical Engineers are responsible for supporting design and implementation of electrical systems, and working with software, and various other tools. The Electrical Engineer III is a mid-level engineer who executes electrical engineering design and analysis tasks with moderate supervision. This role supports project delivery by producing quality deliverables, coordinating with other disciplines, and resolving routine technical issues. The Electrical Engineer III is expected to work independently on well-defined tasks, apply engineering standards and codes, and escalate higher-risk or ambiguous issues to senior engineers.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ability to lead a discipline engineering team on projects with some guidance; supervise design personnel and other staff specialists.
  • Responsible for electrical engineering and design review. Assists in the development of design standards, specifications, and discipline quality control procedures.
  • Serve as the lead Engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects. Planning and managing the engineering activities on a project.
  • Maintaining & commenting on the schedule and budget of assigned projects and understanding the scope of assigned tasks.
  • Performs power engineering tasks and calculations for processing and heavy industrial, including Oil and Gas, Renewables, Petrochemical and Industrial Wastewater Treatment facilities under the direction and supervision of a Staff Electrical Engineer
  • Support specification development and research for distribution switchgear, MCCs, panels, motor starters/VFDs, etc.
  • Competent in Oneline and panel schedule development, simple cable tray/conduit layout and fill calculations, cable/wire sizing, CAD drafting
  • Vendor submittal review and develop and wiring diagrams based on vendor drawings.
  • Reviews work for discrepancies or inconsistencies
  • Tracks details of work to discuss with supervisor
  • Research and resolve issues with all available tools
  • Develops and improves technical knowledge and skills
  • Maintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team members
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Plans what needs to be communicated and how to present the information effectively
  • Seeks out company and client technical standards and implements them on projects
  • Travel required when requested
  • Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation
  • Lighting designs, luminaire layout, and circuit switching
  • Follow QA/QC procedures; complete self-checks before submitting work for review.
  • Maintain organized project files, calculations, and design assumptions in accordance with document control requirements.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement of templates and standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar ABET accredited engineering degree and relevant experience.
  • 7-10+ years' experience
  • Course work in power engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT)certification required
  • PE Preferred in home state
  • NCEES Registration
  • Working understanding of the National Electrical Code and NFPA70E
  • Ability to create and understand One-Line Diagrams and Control Schematics
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as ETAP / SKM
  • Proficient knowledge of symmetrical components, fault current calculations, and machine theory
  • Ability to work with supervisor to effectively complete routine tasks
  • Capable of breaking a task into one or more component parts and sequencing those parts effectively
  • Experience with medium voltage systems and protective devices (exposure level).
  • Construction/commissioning support experience (site walkdowns, RFIs, as-builts).
  • Execute practical and constructable design solutions
  • Solid understanding of the scope, schedule and budget assigned for engineering tasks
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with more experienced electrical engineers to apply standard textbook electrical design and analysis approach
  • Efficiently executes design from concept through completion
  • Ability to logically organize work and delegates tasks to junior team members
  • Collaborating with electrical and other discipline team members on various projects
  • Ability to offer suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issues
  • Productively work through conflict to keep tasks moving forward
  • Familiar with the "business" of electrical engineering as well as the technical design issues
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasive
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, such as Word and Excel

Target Salary Range: $124,000 to $165,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business
Physical Requirements:
  • Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms
  • Constantly use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects
  • Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Requires composure and ability to prioritize and handle several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy
  • Occasionally climbing stairs and ladders to read meters at active oil & gas sites.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
Environmental factors mostly consist of work being conducted in an indoor office environment, but is not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to some travel & work on worksites.
