Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer with experience in aircraft subsystems development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Organization in Melbourne, FL.

Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer may be involved in multiple aspects of aircraft subsystem development including electrical design, analysis, requirements, lab testing, data post processing, and issue troubleshooting. Aircraft subsystems may include, but are not limited to, Avionic System Architecture, Cable Design, and Electrical Power Generation & Distribution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical wiring designs of a functional system including the selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems, etc. in accordance with AS 50881 and proven commercial practices.

  • Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power related deliverables. Familiarization with MIL-STD-704 required.

  • Responsible for all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.

  • May participate on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.

  • System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.

  • System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.

  • Position may be filled as either an Electrical Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Electrical Engineer (Level 3) depending on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic qualifications for an Electrical Engineer (Level 2) include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no years of experience.

  • Basic qualifications for a Principal Electrical Engineer (Level 3) include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.

  • Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance; clearance not required to start employment.

  • Must have the ability to obtain any Program Special access required within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.

  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.

  • Architecture Design Experience, Aircraft Electrical Power (EPS) Experience, Aircraft Hardware Procurement Knowledge, EPS Integration Knowledge

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
