Job description

SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER 

The Technical Services Division specializes in commissioning new substations, performing maintenance and testing of existing substation equipment, and servicing a wide range of power distribution systems for utility, industrial, and public sector clients.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer in this role, you will be responsible for conducting electrical system studies, designing power distribution solutions, performing equipment testing, overseeing commissioning processes, and troubleshooting electrical issues to ensure reliable system operation.

This position requires travel to customer sites. Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction environments, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and adapting to various weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct electrical system studies, including coordination, short-circuit analysis, and arc flash studies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Analyze power quality data and generate detailed reports with actionable insights.
  • Design and develop Protection & Control (P&C) schemes
  • Support electrical construction design, overseeing layouts, schematics, and specifications.
  • Review and validate construction drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage as-built drawing updates, incorporating field modifications accurately.
  • Develop commissioning and testing plans
  • Create construction sequencing plans and schedules to optimize workflow efficiency.
  • Provide on-site technical support during commissioning, troubleshooting, and testing.
  • Verify field test results, ensuring alignment with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed energization and operational plans to facilitate safe and effective system activation.
  • Pursue ongoing training and certifications to stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Lead and Develop talent within Engineering Teams

Education and Experience:

  • BSEE or BSET from an ABET-accredited school required.
  • Professional Engineers (PE) Licensure required
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical power delivery, substation, or related fields.

Compensation:

The minimum and maximum annual salary that O'Connell Electric Company believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is $118,000 - $143,000 per year.
