Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off

 

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking electrical engineers in Rochester NY to work on a dynamic team to design, develop, integrate, and test embedded controls for Airborne Imaging systems.  They will work in a cross-functional team to develop, test & produce EO/IR solutions.

This person will work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of electronics: digital design, analog control, power distribution, signal integrity, data and video.
  • Design, develop, evaluate, integrate & test electronic equipment, parts, components, and circuitry for complex, high performance systems.
  • Design and development of custom production test equipment HW and SW (to meet both functional and operational requirements)
  • Analyze electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
  • Diagnose complex faults in existing systems and recommend design changes to improve performance.
  • Review vendor capability to support development. Includes the application of specialized components such as Connectors, Processors, FPGAs, DSPs, CCAs, power supplies, and amplifiers.
  • Work with procurement and suppliers to build prototype wire harnesses & circuit boards.
  • Perform unit testing of hardware products.
  • Work with other functional areas to develop requirements, specifications, & test plans.
  • Provide timely production support and problem resolution.
  • Follow internal processes to ensure conformance to established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain US government clearance

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Significant knowledge of circuit design, schematic capture and PCB (printed circuit board) layout using ECAD tools (Altium preferred).
  • Experience in wire harness assembly development.
  • Experience in board and system bring up, integration, validation, troubleshooting.
  • Experience analyzing and designing digital circuits that incorporate FPGAs, CPUs, GPUs, and DSPs.
  • Experience high level programming language to configure programmable logic devices (DSP & FPGA).
  • Experience in Analog design such as: Motor drivers, power circuits, EMC/EMI noise reduction, motion control methods.
  • Software development for test applications (C/C++, Python, LabView, etc.)
  • Experience in simulation and analysis of designs.
  • Understanding of EMI/RFI and respective troubleshooting and design corrections/mitigations.
  • Understanding of the hardware development process, documentation, quality assurance, board turn-on and debug integration testing.
  • Active Secret clearance.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $70,500 - $130,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
