Electrical Superintendent

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial or commercial electrical work, including 2+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Experience in large-scale industrial, refinery, power generation, or heavy commercial projects preferred.

Certifications/Licenses (Preferred):

  • Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician (depending on state requirements)
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • NFPA 70E Training
  • First Aid/CPR Certification

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and applicable codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, one-lines, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in using project scheduling tools, work tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Requirements

Electrical Superintendent

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all electrical work on-site, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards and electrical codes. This role provides leadership to electrical crews and serves as the primary on-site contact for electrical construction and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of electrical foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and subcontractors.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and schedules to plan and delegate daily work activities.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with NEC (National Electrical Code), local codes, company standards, and client requirements.
  • Monitor work progress, productivity, and quality, making necessary adjustments to stay on schedule.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures; ensure all team members follow proper LOTO, PPE, and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate with other superintendents, trades, contractors, and project managers to prevent delays and resolve field conflicts.
  • Assist with manpower planning, material procurement, and equipment needs for the project.
  • Conduct site walk-throughs, inspections, and quality checks.
  • Complete daily and weekly reports on labor, material usage, safety incidents, and project progress.
  • Train and mentor crew members to build a strong, knowledgeable workforce.
  • Attend project meetings and interface with clients, engineers, and inspectors as needed.
