Job description

PHYSICAL OFFICE LOCATION:ย 9115 Circle Drive, Austin, TX 78736ย 

$28.07ย Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits

Range of pay: $28.07/hr. - $35.09/hr. mid point. ย 

*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range.ย  Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the design of residential, commercial, industrial, overhead and underground electric distribution facilities in support of the Cooperative's strategic initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and reliability of Joint Use entitiesย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Accompany designers and meet with members, developers and contractors, consultants and government entities to discuss the process and procedures for supplying electric power
  • Research, acquire record, prepare and verify required overhead or URD easements
  • Research to ensure customer deed information is correct and updated
  • Check right of way easements and obtain permits, if required
  • Obtain road crossing permits
  • Notify warehouse of material/transformer requirements
  • Assist designers with notification to the Meter Shop of Current Transformer Trans Socket requirements
  • Assist designers in creating designs and materials lists for overhead and underground distribution facilities
  • Draw new distribution facilities within the Global Information System
  • Assist in requesting vegetation clearing or trimming from the Vegetation Maintenance Department

  • Assist the planners with sending joint use letters
  • Inspect overhead and URD line extensions
  • Assist with the preparation of cost estimates for new line extensions and relocations
  • Learn to utilize survey measurements such as prisms, theodolites and measuring equipment, chain saws and assorted tools
  • Coordinate with other departments, i.e., right of way, construction, department planners and pole contacts
  • Learn, interpret, adhere to and enforce company policies, i.e., Safety, Line Extension and the National Electric Safety Code
  • Prepare small scale distribution design with supervision
  • Provide proper and routine maintenance and care for assigned vehicles and tools
  • Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures
  • Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
