At Guarantee Electrical Company, we love providing students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience through our internship program. We are currently seeking an Interns who have interest in pursuing careers in Construction Management, Electrical Estimating, Electrical Design, Manufacturing and Occupational Safety to join our Denver, CO team and provide direct support to our preconstruction team, and project managers, and field/lead planners. As an intern, you will aid in a wide range of responsibilities from project development, design and estimating to the planning and supervision of installation on project sites.

This internship is for Summer 2027 (internship traditionally run from Mid-May to Mid-August, however we do offer some flexibility)

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Working with project managers to share specs and information to the field and lead planners.
  • Supporting the collaboration of projects across the different business units within Guarantee.
  • Working with lead planners to ensure delivery dates and task information is communicated to other involved parties.
  • Assisting with data entry into Guarantees materials management program.
  • Assigned to support project manager(s) with the responsibility of assisting by coordinating and planning efforts to effectively complete documentation associated with assigned projects and maintaining a smooth workflow.
  • Assist with the coordinating, reviewing, revising, drafting, and maintaining of contractual agreements used in the procurement of electrical construction-related goods and services.
  • Support project management and field construction in planning for project construction, including set-up of digital project files and project file setup; management of project documentation throughout the construction progress from project start through close out.
  • Track subcontracts; changes; prepare and maintain files, assist in issuing Change Orders, and monitor status; RFI'S, counts, and pricing of change orders.
  • Assist with submittal of permit applications and inspection requests; Submittal of shop drawings, samples, cut sheets and as-builts.
  • Maintain panel schedules, create submittal log, update electrical drawings, and track material needed.

Electrical Estimating

  • Assist with preparation of project bids, gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints and related documents.
  • Computes costs by performing take-off, analyzing labor, material and time requirements.
  • Provide critical support to estimating and project management by updating all estimating and design-build projects, working with owner/developer/architect for bid to companies.
  • Attending meetings with project architects/customer as needed to assist with unresolved problems and ensure adequate coordination is happening to ensure accurate bid documents.
  • Help monitor design scope for changes affecting budget or schedule; identifies cause and advises customer as needed.

Safety

  • Develop meaningful, lasting relationships with our workforce and the GECO safety team through the demonstrated care and compassion for their well-being and prosperity.
  • Serve and uphold the core value of safety by supporting Guarantee's core safety and health systems.
  • Assist with OCIP/CCIP enrollments for projects as needed.
  • Administer ProCore system by monitoring reports, and share analytics from the software.
  • Maintaining and updating injury logs.
  • Assist with prequalification and related systems.
  • Support training and education efforts by scheduling, tracking, and filing related documentation.
  • Create and format safety bulletins, incident alerts, and internal messaging regarding safety initiatives and events.

Electrical Design

  • Develop and prepare detailed electrical and construction installation documents and provide engineering support during the construction phase of projects to our project management and field installation employees.
  • Gathers and requests specific information from other design disciplines necessary to move forward and complete the electrical design on schedule.
  • Performs engineering calculations and studies for such items as power distribution system design, lighting levels and coordination, etc.
  • Develop the electrical design so that it can be inputted using REVIT/Navisworks. Check all designs prepared by design team for quality and accuracy.
  • Works with project managers as need to develop engineered construction installation drawings from contract documents developed by outside firms.
  • Provides technical support to project managers, field personnel, estimators, and customers.
  • Develop conceptual designs, sketches or Value Engineering ideas to assist project managers or estimators in the preparation of an estimate.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education:

  • Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Electrical, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Electrical estimating / Engineering, Manufacturing, Occupational Safety or similar program of study.
