Electrical Apprentice Jobs in Calgary, AB (NOW HIRING)

This role supports a large data center construction project in Rocky View County, focusing on commercial and light industrial electrical work. You will work in an active construction environment, performing a wide range of electrical installation, troubleshooting, and construction tasks while upholding strict safety and quality standards. This is not an entry-level position and requires solid commercial or industrial electrical experience and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

• Perform commercial and light industrial electrical installations on a large data center project, including distribution, lighting, equipment connections, and general electrical construction tasks.
• Install, run, and secure conduit and cable tray systems, including bending conduit and pipe to specification for new construction environments.
• Pull, route, and terminate electrical cables and wiring, including low-voltage wiring, ensuring neat, safe, and code-compliant cable management.
• Read, interpret, and work from electrical blueprints, drawings, and site instructions to complete installations accurately and on schedule.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment, identify issues, and implement effective solutions to maintain project progress and safety.
• Support and direct crew members as needed, providing guidance and leadership to apprentices and other team members on site.
• Coordinate work with other trades and site personnel, using clear English communication to follow safety protocols, site procedures, and supervisor instructions.
• Apply a strong understanding of safe work practices, including fall protection and elevated work platform procedures, to all tasks performed on site.
• Operate elevated work platforms or aerial lifts when required, in accordance with training and certification, to complete elevated electrical work.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, organized condition and report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly.
• Travel reliably to the Calgary NE / Rocky View County site and arrive punctually for scheduled day shifts, including required overtime on weekends.
• Meet project timelines by working premium shifts, including evenings and weekends when required, and adapting to project-based work demands.

• Strong commercial or industrial electrical experience in active construction or industrial-style environments.
• Journeyman Electrician certification or valid electrical apprenticeship certification (preferred).
• Higher-level electrical apprenticeship experience, with the ability to perform journeyman-level tasks in a commercial or industrial setting.
• Proficiency in running conduit and bending pipe and conduit for new construction projects.
• Experience in commercial construction and industrial construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and drawings accurately.
• Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, including low-voltage wiring, equipment connections, and distribution systems.
• Demonstrated ability to install, run, and manage cable and cable trays, including pulling wire and cable management.
• Strong English communication skills for safety discussions, coordination with site teams, and understanding site instructions.
• Proven ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
• Solid understanding of safe work practices and site procedures in commercial and industrial construction.
• Valid CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) certification (online courses accepted).
• Valid WHMIS certification (online courses accepted).
• Valid Fall Protection certification (online courses accepted).
• Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Calgary’s NE / Rocky View County.

• Journeyman Electrician status strongly preferred, with demonstrated field experience.
• Higher-level apprentices may be considered based on experience and capability.
• Leadership experience or the ability to support and direct a crew in a construction environment.
• Experience with installations, troubleshooting, equipment connections, cable pulling, distribution, lighting, and general electrical construction tasks.
• Experience working on high-profile, large commercial or industrial projects.
• Elevated Work Platform / Aerial Lift certification considered an asset.
• Comfort working premium shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, code-compliant electrical work.

This role is based on a data center construction site in Rocky View County, serving the Calgary NE area. The position follows a day shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime required, including Saturdays and Sundays. Overtime is paid after 8 hours in a day, with Saturdays paid at time-and-a-half and Sundays at double time. The work environment is an active commercial and industrial construction site, involving tasks such as running conduit, bending pipe, installing cable trays, pulling wire, and performing electrical installations at various heights and locations around the site. You will use typical electrical trade tools and equipment, including conduit benders, cable pulling equipment, and potentially elevated work platforms or aerial lifts. The role involves project-based work with premium shift opportunities, including night premiums on regular time for certain shifts. The environment requires adherence to strict safety standards, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and compliance with site-specific procedures. Dress will align with standard construction site requirements, including appropriate workwear, safety footwear, and required PPE.
