About Seltrek Electrical Solutions
Seltrek Electrical Solutions is an established electrical contractor specializing primarily in Multi-Family residential electrical services, with additional experience in commercial electrical projects. We take pride in providing quality workmanship, reliable service, and professional customer experiences.
We are looking for an experienced Journeyperson Electrical Service Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for an electrician who is confident working independently, enjoys troubleshooting and service work, and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.
 
Position Overview
The Journeyperson Electrical Service Technician will be responsible for responding to residential and occasional commercial service calls, diagnosing electrical issues, completing repairs and installations, and ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable regulations.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in customers' homes and businesses while representing Seltrek in a professional manner.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to residential electrical service calls and occasional commercial service calls.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical problems.
  • Identify electrical deficiencies and recommend appropriate solutions to customers.
  • Perform electrical installations, repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
  • Install and service electrical panels, breakers, disconnects, receptacles, switches, lighting, and other electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair circuits, wiring, lighting systems, and electrical components.
  • Perform panel upgrades, electrical renovations, and service upgrades as required.
  • Install and troubleshoot interior and exterior lighting systems.
  • Install GFCI/AFCI protection, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and other electrical devices.
  • Complete electrical work associated with renovations, additions, and home improvements.
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, plans, specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
  • Ensure all installations and repairs meet the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable provincial regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, explaining electrical issues and recommended solutions.
  • Complete service documentation, work orders, material records, and other required paperwork.
  • Coordinate with office staff, project managers, homeowners, contractors, and other trades as required.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in occasional commercial electrical projects and service work when required.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory:
  • Must hold a valid Journeyperson Electrician Certificate.
  • Must have previous experience working as a Journeyperson Electrician.
  • Strong residential electrical service experience is required.
  • Must have strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable electrical regulations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment and hand/power tools.
  • Must be comfortable working in residential environments and occasionally on commercial job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous residential service technician experience.
  • Experience with residential renovations and electrical upgrades.
  • Experience with panel replacements and service upgrades.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical faults and intermittent electrical issues.
  • Commercial electrical service experience.
  • Experience working with smart home devices, lighting controls, EV chargers, generators, or other modern electrical systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience preparing service estimates or identifying additional work opportunities.
