Position Summary:

We are looking to add technical apprentices to our Lethbridge, AB BAS team that are in their 1st or 2nd or 3rd year of experience. Working with a qualified Journeyman, install building automation control systems in new and existing buildings, including retro fit projects in a construction environment. Learn about building systems integrations and become a building performance expert.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret floor drawings, circuit diagrams, shop drawings, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations
  • Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
  • Pull low voltage controls and data communications cabling through conduits and ceiling spaces.
  • Terminations of low voltage wiring, panels, network, and devices.
  • Install, replace and repair electrical control equipment such as relays, temperature sensors, actuators and panels.
  • Commission newly installed control systems through point-to-point verification and sequence checks with a qualified lead technician.
  • Identify any issues through standard troubleshooting procedures of relays, controls devices, and low voltage electrical circuits.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations

Qualifications:

  • Indentured Electrical Apprentice in Alberta (1st - 3rd Year) with conduit experience
  • Any relevant technical background or training an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Ambitious learner who wants to progress in their career for building systems.
  • Experience working with low voltage.
  • Experience with HVAC, building automation systems and VFD’s an asset
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics
  • Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work
  • Commercial / Construction installations experience
  • Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Must live in the Lethbridge Area.
