EKG Technician

At RWJBarnabas Health, EKG Technicians become part of a dedicated cardiovascular team where precision, collaboration, and patient-centered care support timely diagnosis and exceptional clinical outcomes. This EKG Technician role offers opportunities for professional growth, hands-on cardiac diagnostic experience, and a culture committed to quality, safety, and continuous learning. • Prioritizing test requests and responding promptly to support efficient patient care and clinical workflow
  • Reviewing EKG tracings for technical accuracy, recognizing deviations from normal, and ensuring high-quality recordings for physician interpretation
  • Applying Holter monitors and Signal-Averaged EKGs while providing patients with clear instructions regarding testing and device use
  • Accurately documenting completed studies in the electronic EKG management system and departmental records to support continuity of care
  • Providing age-appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout diagnostic procedures
  • Maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting EKG equipment and notifying leadership of maintenance needs, repairs, or supply shortages
  • Protecting patient privacy and maintaining accurate clinical records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards
  • Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered cardiovascular care
  • Following safety, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and equipment management protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment

This role might be for you if:

  • You are detail-oriented and committed to producing accurate, high-quality diagnostic studies
  • You remain calm, organized, and adaptable while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills help you build positive relationships with patients, families, and clinical team members
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to support exceptional patient outcomes
  • Patient safety, quality, and compassionate care guide your daily work
  • You take pride in maintaining equipment and ensuring an organized, efficient clinical environment
  • Continuous learning and professional development are important to you as cardiovascular technology continues to evolve

To be considered for this EKG Technician opportunity, you are passionate about supporting high-quality cardiovascular care through accurate diagnostic testing and outstanding patient service. You have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. EKG certification is strongly preferred. You demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills while working effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and visitors in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
