The Equity & Inclusion Administrative Assistant serves as a key member of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Equity & Justice Institute teams. This position provides administrative, logistical and programmatic support for student initiatives, affinity groups, lectures, community partnerships, CDF Freedom Schools programming, special events and programming. The successful candidate is highly organized, relationship-oriented, detail-focused and committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable school community.
Core Job Functions:
- Draft, edit, and proofread a variety of print and online communications including but not limited to newsletters, announcements, event invitations, program materials and post event write ups/summaries.
- Interface regularly and maintain partnerships with parents, faculty, staff, students, and community partners
- Coordinate logistics for DEI and EJI offices, including scheduling, communications to community members and stakeholders, and submitting weekly Roadmap announcements for DEI and EJI events
- Serve on the master calendar committee
- Coordinate language services for non-dominant English speaking families and families requiring ASL interpreters
- Support the implementation of Affinity Group Guidelines and Protocols for both parents/guardians and students
- Meet weekly with the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to help support their work
- Work with the Director of the Equity & Justice Institute to support the goals of the Institute including the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program
- Support the strategic vision and goals of the offices through activities and committee work related to equity and diversity-related programs including, but not limited to parent, student, and faculty/staff affinity groups, SEED (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity) seminars, and Equity & Justice Institute programs
Additional Job Functions:
- Maintain community relationships for collaboration in DEI and EJI programming
- Administrative tasks such as note taking, event set-up, outreach, and other clerical duties as needed
- Research issues for the DEI and EJI offices as needed
- Complete facilities paperwork for DEI and EJI on-campus events
- Hang posters for events
- Maintain budget reporting and tracking for both DEI and EJI
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in an administrative support role for complex projects and programs
- Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Demonstrated experience in project planning including complex event planning and multitasking of multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in word processing, MS Office, G Suite, Canva, database management and desktop publishing
- Experience supporting multiple administrators at once
- Must exhibit high attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Excellent interpersonal skills required
- Experience in a school or non-profit setting preferred
- Experience working with diverse ages and backgrounds
- Skilled in budget/resource management
- Research skills and knowledge of DEI issues and resources
- Demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships internally and externally
