The Novelis Bay Minette team is seeking an EHS Coordinator. The EHS Coordinator supports environmental, health, and safety programs at an aluminum manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role focuses on waste management and compliance, incident investigations, SPCC program administration, and OSHA regulation adherence, while promoting a strong safety culture in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste management program from streams generated from aluminum production processes (e.g., spent oils, solvents, dross, dust, and scrap).
  • Ensure proper waste profiling, labeling, storage, and shipment per RCRA and state regulations; maintain manifests and biennial reporting.
  • Oversee recycling programs for aluminum scrap and other recoverable materials; coordinate with vendors for sustainable disposal solutions.
  • Track and report waste generation metrics; identify trends and opportunities for reduction.
  • Maintain accurate waste logs, manifests, and training records; prepare annual/biennial hazardous waste reports.
  • Support the Environmental Team in other initiatives, including stormwater sampling and air quality management.
  • Maintain and update the SPCC Plan for oil storage tanks, hydraulic systems, and lubrication stations used in casting and extrusion operations.
  • Conduct inspections of tanks and containment areas; document corrective actions.
  • Train employees on spill prevention and response procedures; maintain spill kits near furnaces and hydraulic systems.
  • Investigate oil, hydraulic fluid, chemical spills and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.
OSHA Compliance & Safety Programs
  • Support the Health and Safety Team to maintain compliance with OSHA and Novelis Standards and regulations.
  • Implement and manage the Hazard Communication Program.
  • Assist in developing and delivering safety training for employees.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and behavioral observations, drive hazard reporting and closure.
  • Collaborate with all departments to gather data and information after an incident and perform root cause analysis and issue corrective actions.
  • Support ergonomic, heat stress, and other industrial hygiene assessments in production areas.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years in EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Alabama state regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work collaboratively with a cross-function team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS software systems.
Preferred Qualification
  • OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER, or similar credentials.
